A Model for Energy and Community Impact
The Eldorado Solar Project is one of Illinois’ largest utility-scale solar installations, generating 342 MWdc of clean power while pioneering a first-of-its-kind agrivoltaics program with Kernza®, a perennial grain. Constructed by SOLV Energy in partnership with Sol Systems, Nextracker, and American Farmland Trust, Eldorado demonstrates how solar and agriculture can thrive together at scale.
Beyond energy production, the project delivers lasting economic and community benefits. Eldorado created 177 construction jobs, most filled by Illinois residents, that will support five full-time local operations roles. This project will also contribute an estimated $47 million in tax revenue over its 40-year lifespan. In addition, Sol Systems will be distributing over an estimated $1 million in annual funding committed to local schools, food programs, conservation groups, and workforce development initiatives as a part of its long-term engagement with the community.
Eldorado proves that solar and storage infrastructure can deliver more than electricity. By blending innovation, land stewardship, and community investment, it sets a new standard for solar projects across the country.
