Advancing Energy Storage
The Mira Loma project was developed in response to a mandate calling for accelerated procurement for energy storage following the closure of the Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility owned by SoCal Gas. SOLV Energy was selected to build the 20 MW/80 MWh battery system adjacent to the Southern California Edison Mira Loma substation. This storage facility was the first lithium-ion storage facility built by SOLV Energy and is one of the largest of its kind in the world, with enough capacity to store enough energy to power more than 15,000 households for 4 hours.
